Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how My Wine Cellar ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our app and website (the "Service"). We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information — your email address and authentication identifiers when you sign in (including via Google or Apple, if you choose).
• Your cellar data — the wines, producers, vintages, quantities, prices, notes, tasting entries, and storage layouts you enter.
• Label photos — images you capture or upload to scan or attach to a wine.
• Purchase data — subscription status and transaction identifiers from our payment providers. We do not receive or store your full card number.
• Usage & diagnostic data — app-level analytics events such as which screens you view, which features you use, paywall and upgrade interactions, session activity, and error/diagnostic signals, associated with a device identifier or your account. These events contain only counts, categories, and status codes — never your wine names, producers, prices, notes, or search text.

2. How We Use Information

• To provide and sync your collection across your devices.
• To power features you request — AI label scanning, flavor profiles, drink windows, search, organization, and price estimates.
• To process subscriptions and manage your plan.
• To communicate with you (e.g., optional price-change digests, support).
• To understand how the Service is used and improve it, using privacy-preserving product analytics (aggregate feature usage, funnels, and error rates — see "Usage & diagnostic data" above).
• To secure, maintain, and improve the Service.

3. AI Processing

When you use an AI feature, the relevant data — for example, a label photo or the wine's details — is sent to our AI providers (currently Anthropic and Google) to generate the result. This data is processed to serve your request and, under those providers' API terms, is not used to train their models. Results are estimates and may be inaccurate.

4. Community Averages (Opt-In)

If you opt in under Settings, your tasting ratings may be included, in aggregated and anonymized form, to compute community averages shown to other users. We only surface a community average once enough people have contributed for it to be anonymous. You can opt out at any time.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements that limit their use of it:

6. Data Retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → delete account), we delete your associated data, except where we must retain limited records (e.g., for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes).

7. Your Rights

You can access and edit your data in the app, export your collection as CSV, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability); contact us to exercise them.

8. Security

We use reputable providers and access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

10. International Users

We operate the Service using providers that may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in those locations.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
